Vintage Zionist debut a bold collection inspired by AFROPUNK festival

Vintage Zionist, a clothing brand based in downtown Johannesburg’s burgeoning arts district, Maboneng Precinct, recently collaborated with AFROPUNK — the international music festival taking place in Joburg this December — for their debut capsule collection at South African Fashion Week AW18 in Johannesburg. The collection was shown on the runway on Friday the 27th of November.

Designers Oscar Ncube and Mandy Newman presented a rebellious collection perfectly curated to suit the outspoken Afropunk community. They describe the collection as “a wardrobe of basics a rock ‘n roll lover wants to wear everyday.” From T-shirts tagged with ‘Stay Punk’ to patch work pants, leather jackets, fishnet dungaree dresses and shredded jeans, the items all capture the spirit of the punk DIY aesthetic.

The collection will be for sale at AFROPUNK festivals worldwide, starting at AFROPUNK Joburg, December 30 and 31. Follow Vintage Zionist.
