Keneilwe Kwainete just finished high school but he’s already claiming position in the design world. Raised in Tembisa, the illustrator started drawing in grade 3 as a hobby, and later on discovered his current medium of digital art through a friend.
Keneilwe cites the experience of growing up in the East Rand as his biggest inspiration: “I got an opportunity to experience different cultures and how they operate and originate from, that meant a lot for me and it inspired me in a way that made want to do something that’s gonna stand out in the creative world.”
Currently on a gap year, Keneilwe is using the time to try and figure out what the best career option for him would be.
Apart from his upbringing, Keneilwe is also inspired by his surroundings, and specifically the natural world: he looks for aspects of nature that are considered “flaws” and tries to reimagine that into something perfect.
