Milk x Coffee – Breaking the stigma of albinism

Following a conversation with a close friend about her feelings for an albino man and her fears about the stigma surrounding albinism in Polokwane, 28-year old photographer Karabo Maila decided to create a photo series that challenged this controversial topic.

“I shot this series and showed it to her because I wanted her to have a change of heart about the relationship. I know she loves this man.”

With the help of a poet called Gadaffi and radio presenter and rapper, Ms Kulie, Karabo was able to create her first impact-driven series that showcases this ‘forbidden’ love.

Karabo, who is a content producer and campaign and social media administrator at Capricorn FM, started taking photos a mere 2 years ago.
