DNA is fast becoming one of the best young creative outfits in South Africa, only two years since its creation by friends and collaborators Amy Zama and Don Zondo. Amy and Don started DNA as a way for young artists to connect and collaborate, creating visual narratives that stay true to their work about the youth. They started working together while studying at LISOF, and through their mentors, Rich Mnisi and Aart Verrips, and the birth of DNA came naturally – both as friends and as collaborators, it was a perfect fit. The pair frequently collaborates with other young creatives such as Unkle Bats (who shot this photo series), and Mam Thug/ Liziwe Kwanini.
eDolobheni is a photo series which looks at the City of Gold nd what it means to live amongst the ruins and beauty of the Joburg CBD. The images are beautifully lit and filled with the textures and colours that make Joburg what it is, and Amy is as stunning a model as she is a stylist.
