An immersive experience with Colourfield at Southern Guild

Southern Guild‘s Colour Field exhibition will show from 19 July to 12 September at GUILD in Cape Town’s silo district. The exhibition features designers such as Tonic, Zizipho Poswa, Xavier Clarisse and Ronel Jordaan. The work is immersive and transformative, and is made out of a wide variety of materials – glass, aluminium, clay, wood, fabric and leather. The designers explore the relationship between material, light, and texture in contemporary furniture, lighting, ceramics and textiles.

The show will include new, up-coming designers such as Nicholas Coutts, fashion designer and weaver; August de Wet, industrial designer; and Eric Loubser, jewellery designer. Inspired by the colour field painters of the 50s and 60s, such as Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman, Helen Frankenthaler and Frank Stella, the show is a testament to the emotive effects of colour.
