Following on our earlier feature and an interview on SABC Africa, Karabo Maila was encouraged to create Chapter Two of the photographic series aimed at breaking the stigma on albinism.
The foundation of the story is still the same, sparked when one of the photographer’s female friends confided that she had feelings for an albino man. She shared her concerns about the negative reactions of others, particularly in Polokwane were they live. This second edition examines this controversial topic on a deeper level and displays more intimacy and presence by both characters. Karabo hopes to evoke more than just love and to highlight the various other concepts within relationships such as intimacy, support, strength and presence.
