Conceptual artist, visual communication designer, illustrator and part-time lecturer Wiehan de Jager uses digital collage processes to produce art. He infuses traditional elements and digital methods. All his creations are produced from his home-based studio in Riebeek Kasteel, Western Cape.
“In a nutshell, I explore the processes of mark making through my work. I experiment with the juxtaposition of traditional media marks made through drawing, print-making, photography and painting, with the sometimes strict, controlled yet serendipitous digital illustration processes and artistic expressions. On occasion, imagery are sourced from the public domain and reworked and refreshed to assist with the concept development and visual expression. The results are sensitive, controlled and detailed, balanced out with bold organic moments.”
