Clothing label and multi-disciplinary brand, OH OK and South Africa’s first poke bar and take-away, Hokey Poke have come together on a collaboration, ‘The Misadventures of The Culinary Misfits’ which launched at Hokey Poke’s store at Cape Town’s First Thursdays in September.
The collaboration consists of 20 limited edition velour bomber jackets (with name embroidery in the front and big character embroidery on the back) and dual purpose bags (meant for keeping day to day things inside but also insulated so you can keep your food and/or drinks in it).
The idea of the shoot and collaboration was to create 5 characters from 5 main Hokey Poke food ingredients, namely Eddy Edamame, Sally Salmon, Terry Tuna, Tony Tofu and Penelope Prawn. In entirety the collaboration consists of 5 different jacket designs representing the 5 characters, the dual-purpose bags and a dish created for the collaboration which includes all 5 ingredients.
The collaboration was influenced by Jiro Ono, greasers, The Sopranos, The Big Lebowski and The Warriors amongst other things.
