12 Jun Youthquake with CROCS and Sowetan Flavour
Everyone and anyone worth their salt in the fashion world has heard the term “ugly shoe”, but CROCS are here to say ‘STOP. COLLABORATE AND LISTEN’. They recently launched CROCSXWANDA, a curated Capsule Collection launched in May 2019 with designer Wanda Lephoto.
CROCSXWANDA
Hardly a design freshman, Wanda Lephoto’s collections have graced the runways of many a SA Fashion Week. Founded in 2016, the ready-to-wear designs are known for their ability to relay a story.
Finding inspiration from traditional cultural practices and modern subculture style, Wanda aims to fuse stories through amalgamating cultural hybrids to communicate rarely explored contexts, impacting the future of creative story-telling.
“It’s the eye for the possibility that keeps our brand alive and thriving through cultural barriers. This was a common denominator in both brands and allowed for a natural fit in co-operation. We are thrilled to support this initiative with our long-term fashion partner Wanda Lephoto and look forward to supporting Reach for a Dream with the proceeds of this Capsule Collection”. – Andrew Kalis, Managing Director of CROCS SA.
“The partnership is amazing. We’re doing something with an amazing product, doing something for charity as well which is always beautiful because outside of this beautiful world of design and fashion we live in, real people need help and any assistance we can offer. So, I’m really excited and looking forward to it. I’ve already designed my own silhouette as well and I know in the near future this will be put into production. The possibilities are endless as we’re growing something from a place of nurture, not just of cool.” –Wanda Lephoto, Designer
Known for his minimalistic take on art and street culture, Wanda manages to submerge the essence of both brands into one collaborative masterpiece of 10 composed looks.
