Castle Lite’s Two-Day Hip Hop Experience Didn’t Disappoint

Castle Lite Unlocks brought a hip hop cultural movement to the Ticketpro Dome in June, where some of the biggest names in hip hop entertained local crowds.

A hip hop cultural movement swept over every corner of the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on day one, featuring master classes, street fashion and Cold Table convos that featured industry legends such as Slikour, Lee Kasumba, Katlego Malatji and DJ Speedsta. Fans were also treated to unforgettable performances by artists such as Sway Calloway and Meek Mill.

The event was split into two days and featured industry legends, top local and international hip hop artists and, of course, ice cold Castle Lite.

Day one of Castle Lite Unlocks was a tribute to all things hip hop. From master classes and street fashion to Cold Table convos that featured industry legends such as Slikour, Lee Kasumba, Katlego Malatji and DJ Speedsta. Along with getting the chance to experience hip hop culture at its finest, attendees also got to see a few hip hop legends live in action, including AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakai, Shane Eagle and US rap star, Meek Mill.

Day two was all about the music and the lineup was jam packed with local and international talent, including Nasty C, Rouge, Ricky Rick and international sensation Post Malone.

Even though there was a bit of confusion around the artists who would definitely be performing at Castle Lite Unlocks, the event was a big success and is fast becoming the focal point for hip hop in South Africa.

“Hip-hop in Africa has also grown to a space where international artists are looking to Africa for inspiration and collaboration. [It’s] a space where our artists are setting the trends and driving the global hip-hop sound and narrative.” – Silke Bucker – Castle Lite Brand Director
