WHATIFTHEWORLD is pleased to announce three very exciting presentations coming up in September. The gallery will be hosting three artists; Pierre Fouché’s solo exhibition, solo presentations by well-known painter Michael Taylor and ceramicist NEBNIKRO.
Pierre Fouche’s solo exhibition, titled ‘The Little Binche Peacock and other Utopian dreams’, comprises of a large-scale installation, this ambitious
exhibition reveals the high craftsmanship of Fouché’s practice as a lacemaker. By referring to the historical concepts of utopia, Fouché looks at ingenuity, imagination, and invoking the fantastical as tools in search of an alternative existence.
‘Boys On The Side’ by painter Michael Taylor, is the artist’s latest
portraiture series. Extracted from a miscellaneous pool of source material, the painted figures become allusions to existing people, archetypes, and fantasies: Golden Boys of our dreams and of our realities.
Ceramicist NEBNIKRO will be joining the other two artists with a solo presentation titled ‘You told me you didn’t know who you are but I told you
I love who you are and then you told me you loved me so I asked how you knew you loved me if you didn’t even know who you are’.
WHATIFTHEWORLD is pleased to present NEBNIKRO’s latest ceramic series, this is the artist’s first solo presentation with the gallery. Orkin’s series of large-scale vessels centralises love shared, given, and taken between lovers. Importantly, the artist reflects on this love from his position as a queer artist.
The exhibition opening will be taking place on 4 September at the WHATIFTHEWORLD Gallery, Cape Town.
