Last night, SuperSport launched a 24-hour pop-up art gallery – #GalleryOfChampions that celebrates some of the star Springbok performers.
#GalleryOfChampions sees the commissioning of five South African up-and-coming artists who have completed three illustrations each – of South African Rugby players. These illustrations were exhibited for one night only in Johannesburg.
SuperSport reached out via a tweet, asking if there are young South African illustrators who have a notable Japanese influence in their work and was pleasantly surprised to uncover five extremely talented individuals.
“We were introduced to the following artists who have illustrated three Springboks each in limited edition A1 prints (thank you to Epson for printing these artworks) at the #GalleryOfChampions. These artists are Seyabonga Vincent ‘Vindollar’ Lebeko, André Human, Corné Nel, Joel “Cyzo” Matladi, and Tyler Jade,” says Clinton van der Berg, SuperSport spokesperson.
From Monday 9 September to Friday 13 September, SuperSport will be auctioning the A1 original, signed works via Instagram and Facebook and all proceeds from this auction will go to the rugby development via SuperSport’s charity – Let’s Play.
