Following the release of her visual series ‘Woman is a Word’, fashion designer Takudzwa Dlamini released a new look book for September titled ‘Gunyana’. The 25-year-old’s work is centred on feminism, masculinity and nostalgia. She hopes to evoke the qualities of childlikeness and innocence in the garments she creates.
“Taku Dlamini is a contemporary South African womenswear brand. Alongside sustainable production practices, our studio prides itself in creating timeless, versatile staples that are delightfully unexpected in their details. We’re firm advocates of embracing your individuality and dress the person who is self-aware and not interested in keeping up with latest trends but instead invests in quality over quantity by opting for a slower consumption of fashion.” she says.
All Taku Dlamini pieces are designed and made in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has focused her brand ethos around local and sustainable production practices. She is dedicated to nurturing the skills of those she works with. Each of her pieces are created with intention through a harmonious balance of smart design, dedication to detail, considered fabric choices and a focus on craft and longevity.
