On September 24, South Africans celebrate Heritage Day. On this day, citizens [all races] are encouraged to celebrate their culture and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions. Various events happen across the country during September. In the most recent years, we have seen more brands getting involved and commemorating South Arica’s beautiful heritage.
Johnnie Walker’s New Packaging Design
The new packaging aims to display the rarest discoveries of the Motherland and uncover the rich artistic history housed by this beautiful country. The Blue Label NOMAD series maintains the tasting notes of the bespoke whiskey that marries the rarity and quality of the prestigious brand variant with an all-new limited edition packaging.
Created by a South African Illustrator who demonstrates a journey to the Cradle Of Humankind as the Johnnie Walker Striding Man follows the Shweshwe patterned pathway past some of the oldest and most extraordinary natural formations and the most distinctive flora and fauna in the world.
Tastic x David Tlale Collaboration
Fashion powerhouse, David Tlale partnered with Tastic, a brand that is deeply entrenched in South Africa’s traditions for Heritage Day. The designer is known for setting trends on the runway, however, his new partnership sees him create an exclusive pack design that is inspired by his childhood, as well as the rich and vibrant mix of cultures found in South Africa.
Dr Ester Mahlangu x Albany Bread
Dr Ester Mahlangu, in partnership with Albany Bread awarded the Albany Packaging Award to NSA student, Jiyaad Greeff in celebration of Heritage Month. The brand printed packaging of its Albany Superior White and Albany Superior Brown bread with the young artist’s’ design.
KFC Packaging Design
Although KFC’s special packaging design was not printed, this was a pretty cool way of commemorating Heritage Month. We think Pick n Pay’s creative team should take notes from KFC’s creative team #Inkukhu #Noshade.
Inkomazi: The Mark Of Heritage Social Media Campaign
It is a known fact that South Africans love their food, so for Heritage Month, Inkomazi shared recipes that highlight our unique heritage. We may speak 14 different languages and dress unalike, but the one thing that always brings us together is local cuisine.
