A3E Artist Profile: Yolanda Warnich

10and5 is dedicated to bringing you talent from across the South African creative industry by providing a platform for emerging creatives to showcase their work to a wider audience. Driven by this dedication, we have put together a new initiative, the Artist Acceleration and Exposure Programme (A3E), which aims to upskill emerging artists across South Africa, offers a platform for talented artists to reach new markets, and helps them break into the art scene.

Fine artist Yolanda Warnich was born in Saldanha Bay, on the Cape West Coast where she developed her passion for the sea and rugged landscapes.

Warnich is a painter at heart but has developed a love for photography over the years. She recently started creating new media artworks by integrating the two. Her latest work, titled ‘Making Paper’, involves paper-making and reflects her concerns around land and ecology.

The artist’s immediate environment has always played an integral role in her art-making process; not only in a manner that results in her creating works in and of the landscape but causing an awareness of her own immediate impact on the environment.
