Curated by Manthe Ribane of Dear Ribane, Arte Botanica is a new annual festival hosted at the Nirox Sculpture Park in the Cradle of Humankind, Krugersdorp.
Designers, musicians, aspiring artists, and art enthusiasts put on their best white (neutral) outfits for this year’s celebration of South African creativity – presented at different locations throughout the park.
The afternoon kicked off with fashion-focused installations by Sash x Katharien de Villiers, Amy Zama, Justin Dingwall x Clive Rundle, Gabrielle Kruger x National School of the Arts x Tubatsi Moloi, Unathi Mkonto, and Ella Buter x Sthandiwe Kgoroge x Treyvone Moo, to name a few.
Attendees could choose from an array of street food and pop up bars, which offered everything from G&T to champagne. Drinks were flowing throughout the day.
Guests were also treated to the rare pleasure of watching Baba Tjeko paint a mural from scratch at the MINI installation, as well as a screening of La Maison Noir’, Petite Noir x Rharha’s glorious film. Watch it here:
Just when everyone thought the event couldn’t get any better, SA designers showcased their garments at a magical sunset fashion show featuring the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra joined by Msaki, Tresor and Kid X.
