South Africa has numerous music and cultural festivals that happen throughout the year. We like to have fun, and we sure know how to vibe. Each festival delivers a unique experience to its specific target market.
Set annually on the banks of the magical Breede River, about 23km outside Swellendam in the Western Cape, Up the Creek is the second longest-running outdoor music festival in South Africa, it offers attendees an experience like no other. And to celebrate its 30 Year Reunion at the River, the festival will see about 50 bands performing across 4 stages, including some epic throwback acts that have rocked the stages over the last three decades.
Additionally, the festival organisers wanted their loyal followers to be part of the celebrations. Fans were asked to design the official Up The Creek T-shirt to stand a chance to win 2 x full weekend tickets (6 – 9 February 2020) to the festival AND R1000 Howler credit to share (Howler credit buys you drinks at the bars and food).
Design only the front of the shirt (as the bands playing will be placed on the back)
Colour of shirt can be any solid colour
4 colours maximum in design
Use the Up the Creek logo in your design
Consider the market: 30 to 40-year-olds.
A bunch of super rad designs were submitted, and four T-shirt designs – that embody the spirit of the festival were selected.
The winning design spoke to what the festival represents: Good vibes, great music, good food, short queues, and a whole lot of gees!
Up the Creek’s T-shirt designers then took Karin’s design and amended it to be festival ready ( see image below). The official T-shirt will be sold at Up the Creek’s 30 Year Reunion at the River.
The three 3 x runner up designs created by Hester Bergh, Tamara Weetman, and Sam De Goede win 1 x full weekend ticket each.
Even though it’s Up the Creek’s 30 Year Reunion at the River, they are not increasing the number of tickets available this year. As always, only 2500 tickets are available and they’re selling fast. Grab your festie-bestie and get your tickets here.
