Johannesburg-based artist Thabo Matsepane, also known as Thabo Lens, explores his talents and interests through photography. Born and raised in Limpopo, Matsepane studied fashion & design at Sew Africa in 2016, the following year, he completed a short course at Nikon in Pretoria. Matsepane went on to study photographer Orms in Cape Town, where he graduated in 2019.
Matsepane, who has always had an interest in telling stories first held a camera in 2008 after coming to the realisation that photography is one of many ways in which stories could be told.
Eager to tell African stories from an African’s perspective, he began capturing day-to-day African visuals. As a photographer and storyteller, he believes in discovering, capturing and showcasing a new side of African creativity to create a new, authentic image of African culture and art.
