Meet the Four Womxn Photographers Who Are Part Of Lampost Luminaries’ Fellowship

Following a rigorous selection process from a nation-wide open call, four womxn photographers and videographers have been selected for the first-ever Lampost Luminaries fellowship 2020, an intensive 10-month upskill programme to jumpstart their professional careers.

The Lampost Luminaries fellowship is aimed at supporting previously disadvantaged womxn to gain industry training and experience to launch their professional careers and make their mark on the narrative shaping visual storytelling.

Thalente Khomo, Lili Ming, Basetsana Maluleka and Lebogang Tlhako will embark on a full-time funded mentorship and skills-development programme in Johannesburg to equip them with the tools needed to work on fashion, advertising and editorial campaigns, short films and art exhibitions.

Inspired by her experiences growing up in rural KwaZulu-Natal, Thalente Khomo’s photography focuses on the female experience and explores the objectification and exploitation of womxns’ and girls’ bodies in society.
