South African MensWear Week, hosted at the V&A Waterfront on the 8th of February 2020 could be typically described as the Mecca for all fashion designers, aesthetes, creatives and everyone else who appreciates what the South African fashion industry has to offer. In the midst of bartenders who had contretemps with attendees, substandard coordination and planning – the designers and people really came through with avant-garde, minimalistic and just downright enticing looks (and collections). It was a great space to meet new, like-minded and reconnect with people who you already know.
Here are our favourite looks from the event:
“I am all for taking fashion risks and stepping out of my comfort zone because I believe trends are set when you do not follow a trend.” @shawntaljaardviljoen
Lee Van Niekerk
“My fashion/style to me is one of the truest forms of self-expression of who I am and who better to dress me than me? So I dabble in some personalized pieces here and there, all made from scratch.” @lee.vniekerk
