Boiler Room Returns To SA With First-Ever One-Day Music Festival

Global independent music platform and cultural curator, Boiler Room, returns to South Africa this April to bring its latest experience to local fans. South African music lovers are no strangers to Boiler Room; the platform has hosted events across the country over the last few years, exposing audiences to fresh sounds and exciting new talent across amapiano, qgom, house, and hip-hop.

The Boiler Room Festival continues this legacy by harnessing Johannesburg’s vibrant energy to push all limits at a one-day-only, multi-stage event. Broadcast online to the world, the ambitious programme will feature international and South African headliners alongside local artists at the cutting edge. The format will be quintessential Boiler Room: intimate, raw and in-the-round.

As part of its first wave of announcements, Boiler Room has just released the first names of the local line-up. Among the list of incredible local talent are Cassper Nyovest, BCUC, Kabza De Small and performance art duo and fashion icons, FAKA.

The Johannesburg event is the second in a series of international Boiler Room Festivals and follows the successful launch in London in October 2019, which saw 20,000 people attend across multiple days and venues.

Boiler Room has once again partnered with Absolut Vodka, Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky, Beefeater London Gin, and Jameson Irish Whiskey to bring the festival to South Africa. Building on the strong associations each brand has with music scenes around the world, the festival will see immersive live music experiences broadcasted live from the event.

Futures are forged in the club; Boiler Room and Absolut come together to celebrate the collectives pushing boundaries and making space.

Music needs space to grow; Boiler Room and Ballantine’s come together to nurture and spotlight the headliners of tomorrow.

Inspired by South Africa’s kinetic energy, Boiler Room and Jameson come together to connect local artists and scenes.

Early Bird tickets are R150 for a limited time and can be purchased online at festival.boilerroom.tv and on the ground via Herotickets. The venue will be announced soon; sign up for updates at festival.boilerroom.tv to be the first to know.
