With no other option but to stay indoors, we’ve leaned towards social media for entertainment and engagement. Here are a few upcoming online live sessions taking place over the next few days to keep you busy, entertained, and engaged.
African Fashion International has joined the conversation many brands and individuals alike have been engaging in over the last few weeks – ‘what effects the COVID-19 pandemic will have on business’. AFI Conversations will focus on what the future of fashion holds and what this means for the fashion industry. The Instagram Live will feature some thought leaders within the fashion industry – including retail and marketing editor of Vogue Business, Kati Chitrakorn; award-winning fashion designer, Gavin Rajah; and fashion trend researcher, Nicola Cooper.
Women in Bloom
This week’s feature of the weekly live sessions with Bloom Org. features Vika Shipalana, founder and CEO of VBS Luxury Group (Pty) Ltd. Host, Danielle Bowler will delve into Shipalana’s professional history and inspirations.
Feel Good Series Listening Party
Feel Good Series, a platform for emerging musicians, has partnered up with journalist, Helen Herimbi to launch their monthly Listening Parties. In an Instagram post, co-founder, Nandi Dlepu shared: “Our live performance guest for our April edition is @luh.ra and beginning this Thursday and ahead of all future editions, @feelgoodseries will be hosting an artist meet and greet with co-producer and host @uhelenh where she’ll be unpacking the inspiration behind album[s] and song[s] ahead of our Saturday groove.” Tune in this evening at 7pm to join Luh’ra and Helen for the first edition of theListening Party as they chat about the album and song inspirations.
United in Creativity to Fight COVID-19
Avatar Agency Group CEO, Zibusiso Mkhwanazi will host a series of Instagram Live sessions on SA Creatives’ IG that will unpack on issues relating to the creative industry and COVID-19. Today (23 April), Mkhwanazi will chat to the multifaceted, Sylvester Chauke. He is the author of Stand Against Bland, and the Founder and Chief Architect of DNA Brand Architects; an innovative marketing and brand consultancy.

The lockdown has given permission to many of our photographers to spend time on their passion projects, honing in on their conceptual thinking and upskilling themselves in unexpectedly creative ways.
For our second webinar this year, we joined forces with Lampost Productions to find out how their photographers have used this time to boost sanity through their passion projects.
Chris Saunders, Lesedi Mothoagae, Justin Dingwall and Bianca Theron will share some of the work created during the lockdown – with the aim of inspiring their counterparts and document what is currently happening in the country and abroad.

DreamStream Digital Festival
The initiative hosted by Howler will bring some of South Africa’s finest DJs over a period of three days to raise funds for the unsung heroes of the industry. The three-day event features 33 artists who will offer viewers a one hour set that mixes several genres; such as EDM, Amapiano, House and Hip Hop.

The Drawing Board
‘The Drawing Board’ is a two-day virtual fashion and design summit featuring some well-known talents in the fashion scene. In response to COVID 19’s devastating impact, the Folklore has gathered some of the fashion industry’s top voices to aid in international relief efforts. The Folklore will be joined by African brands such as Orange Culture Nigeria, MaXhosa, Tokyo James, PICHULIK, and I A M I S I G O to discuss the state of the fasion industry during this time.
Sweden South Africa Live Connection: Digitally Yours Episode 4 – Spoken Word Poetry
This fourth installment of Digitally Yours will focus on spoken word and poetry. It features poets Tory Saint, Nino Mick, and Siphokazi Jonas with Mo’Afrika Wa Mokgathi as the host. The poetry session will be followed by a musical performance by Tubatsi Moloi.

Jameson Connects: The Stay Inn
Jameson Irish Whiskey has launched Jameson Connects: The Stay Inn, a playbook of live virtual events that include performances, comedy, and discussions. The virtual events will take place over the next four weeks, anchored by award-winning rapper Kwesta and local funny man Glen Binderman-Pam. The three virtual shows per week will be on Instagram Live, IGTV (Instagram TV), Facebook and YouTube.
This weekend, Kwesta will be joined by K.O for Saturday’s Smooth Session, and Glen Biderman-Pam alongside Eugene Khoza for The Sunday Special.
