The #VogueChallenge, which began on Tik Tok and quickly made its way to Twitter and Instagram, sees individuals editing either images of themselves, images they have captured, or their artistic work on the cover of world-renowned fashion and lifestyle magazine, Vogue.
However, unlike a few other trends that are started for the purpose of fun and entertainment, the #VogueChallenge holds much more significance. The trend began after Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour expressed that the publication did not do enough to support its black staff and designers. With this in mind and the knowledge of Vogue not including many women of colour on its magazine cover, creatives across the globe took this as an opportunity to showcase, uplift, and amplify black creators. The trend has since been regarded as a way for black creators to show their work, culture, and to claim their place in globally recognized publications and spaces.
