This coming Friday, we will co-host an exciting webinar with Clout for the third edition of Nando’s Hot Young Design Talent Search.

Nando’s Hot Young Designer Talent Search initiative has opened doors for undiscovered young South African design talent to join the Nando’s heartfelt celebration of local design. Entrants are asked to respond to a design brief and submit designs that are potentially included on the Nando’s Portal to Africa – the global Nando’s design procurement platform.
Joining Creative Director of the Nando’s Design Programme, Tracy Lynch in conversation will be Thabisa Mjo, Mpho Vackier, Glorinah Mabaso and Malibongwe Tyilo, who will be moderating the session.
The webinar will be focused on how the SA design industry and the role women play as mentors and ambassadors in relation to the sharing of heritage, craft, and innovation through their business approach and product designs.

More about the speakers:



Thabisa Mjo
Thabisa Mjo is an award-winning designer and the founder of a product design firm called Mash.t Design Studio. Mjo has received numerous accolades for her work. She was co-winner of Nando’s Hot Young Designer Talent Search in 2016 and in 2018, she won the award for Most Beautiful Object at Design Indaba. Mjo celebrates the use of craft and collaboration in the creation of her distinctive designs.
Tracy Lee-Lynch



Tracy is the Creative Director of the Nando’s Design Programme. She is the owner of Studio Lee-Lynch and has won multiple awards and garnered widespread recognition for her work. Tracy’s focus is developing a deeply conscious response to the particular requirements of her clients. She is passionate about establishing relationships between creatives with the ultimate aim of showcasing Southern African craft and design to the world.
Mpho Vackier



Mpho is a metallurgical engineer who followed her desire to pursue a more creative career and became a furniture designer. She formed her own company, TheUrbanative, with the aim of telling African stories through modern furniture and product design, and within three years became SA’s Designer of the Year.
Glorinah Mabaso:



Glorinah is a culturally inspired designer and owner of LED interiors. In 2019, she was one of four finalists in the Clout Designers’ Industry Days pitch sessions at 100% Design – and has gone on to participate in the Nando’s Business Development Programme. She draws on Southern African cultural history and sound as inspiration for her bold interpretation of modern tribal luxury.
Malibongwe Tyilo:



Malibongwe Tyilo is a multimedia content producer, content strategist, and editor whose expertise lies in the fields of fashion, art, design, and culture. He explores these subjects on his own online platforms, and as a writer and editor for numerous print and online publications. Malibongwe is currently focused on producing written and video content documenting Nando’s design programme for the online and print platform, Clout, and he is the associate editor for Maverick Life, the Daily Maverick’s online lifestyle magazine.
