10and5, Orms & BASA Join Forces To Help Save The Six By Hosting A Digital Auction

Like the rest of the world, the District Six Museum is feeling the impact of the Covid19 Pandemic and needs to raise funds to cover operating costs so that they can keep the doors of the museum open and continue to share stories of heritage, history and identity as a way of keeping the memory of District Six alive.

The Save The Six campaign is a collaborative network of individuals, companies and creators with a vested interest in the survival of the District Six Museum. We called on local artists, creators and photographers to join us in our efforts to raise funds for the museum through the means of a digital auction hosted by Between 10and5 with the support of Orms and BASA.

We received an impressive number of submissions such as illustrations, paintings, photography pieces and much more from the creative community, and we will be hosting our digital auction from Sunday, 29 November to Thursday, 3 November. Our audience will have the opportunity to bid on art pieces by the industry’s well-known artists and up-and-coming creators. Check out the preview of artworks below:

As a community with a vested interest in the survival of the District Six Museum, we believe that artists and creators play an important role in preserving the memory of District Six and continuing important conversations surrounding belonging, exile, heritage and identity. By taking part in the auction, you have the opportunity to both honour the District Six community and help in moulding the discourse surrounding the museum.
