Standard Bank Encourages Future Chartered Accountants In South Africa To Stay Inspired

Standard Bank recently hosted a web series themed #PushTheFuture, as part of its tactical drive targeted at youth; young professionals and mainly those who are currently in Chartered Accountancy (CA). These sessions were aimed at not only encouraging and motivating CAs but also equipping future CAs for their final board exams.

Moderated by Chartered Accountant and commentator Khaya Sithole, the sessions heard from Standard Bank’s very own executives who hold the CA qualification about their life journey, that of becoming a CA and challenges and successes experienced along the way.

“The sessions were nothing short of engaging, inspiring and left many of the viewers with some ‘food for thought’ and much-needed insight and perspective around staying determined in order to win,” says Willie Chavalala, Gauteng Provincial Head at Standard Bank

Also featured were young CA graduates who have gone through the hurdles and who were able to impart their knowledge in the form of tips, tricks and advice to all those who are getting ready to write their board exams, such as going through past papers. The graduates covered topical courses such as financial accounting, auditing, taxation, financial management at CTA/ Honours Level, while the executives looked at topics such as, the impact of 4IR on the accounting industry as well as the impact of COVID-19 on the accounting industry.

A career in the CA field generally takes at least four years of academic study at South Africa’s top universities and another three years of practical training, simultaneous study and passing not one but two of the toughest professional exams. But to be the best in the world takes sacrifice, discipline and determination. These were some of the insights delivered from Standard Bank executives during the series.

“This was our way of not only inspiring the future CA but supporting and driving young talent during a very challenging time,” says Willie Chavalala Head of Client Coverage for Gauteng. “Standard Bank is passionate about growing our people, and we are passionate about growing you to exploring your ultimate potential and challenging the norm to become a creative, ground-breaking business leader and CA(SA) of the future”.

“To our Future CA’s, now is your chance to take a moment and make sure you’re prepped and equipped for your upcoming examinations. In order to make sure you’re on the right track and to give you the edge, you’re looking for your end goal. This is the final stretch, good luck!” concludes Mr Chavalala.
