25 Feb EXPERIENCE AND COLLECT THE SPONTANEOUS AND CONVIVIAL JOY OF APEROL SPRITZ, EVERYDAY
The vibrant essence of Aperol Spritz will spread its joy across South Africa, as Italy’s iconic orange aperitivo launches a range of inimitable, trendy, and collectable limited-edition silk scarves in collaboration with four emerging womxn artists – Mira Jaan, Keamogetswe Sediane, Amy-Lee Tak and Phathu Nembilwi. Inspired by spontaneous moments of joy, the collection epitomises Aperol’s cool signature style and orange hue, bringing the orange vibe to every occasion.
Aperol has a long history of using the universal language of art to express its widespread appeal. Each scarf interprets the brand’s role in sparking joyful connections which is reflective of the social spirit of the Aperol Spritz ritual – a moment and mood where people come together to catch up and spark never-ending connections.
The design inspiration of each item came from Aperol lovers, for Aperol lovers to embody the lively Aperol spirit that brings people together, embracing human aspirations to live joyful, light-hearted moments side by side.
Aperol partnered with local creative agency, Between 10and5 to find four rising female stars to create beautiful fashion pieces embodying the spirit of ‘Together We Joy’. Each illustrator had a unique take on the theme.
Mira Jaan, a Cape Town-based painter, was inspired by the intimate moments we have with people we love and care for.
Phathutshedzo Nembilwi is a graphic designer and illustrator born and raised in Venda, Limpopo. Her design was inspired by the happy moments people share when dancing and listening to music. She is inspired by how music connects us and wanted to reflect this sentiment in her work.
Amy-Lee Tak a Cape Town-based illustrator and visual designer who enjoys using bright colours in her work says her work depicts the surrendering you do when you’re experiencing a moment of joy and togetherness with people you like.
Keamogetswe Sediane, who has an honours in Visual Design with a specialisation in Interaction Design, says to get inspired, she thought about what makes her most happy and immediately thought of having a good time with her girlfriends. She wanted her work to show ‘women in luxury’ enjoying chill vibes and chatting away with friends.
A golden thread through all these unique designs is the idea that ‘togetherness’ sparks joy in all women. Another point of connection in this body of work is colour. The use of the colour orange is key in each design but every artist had her own way of blending, mixing, and highlighting this happy colour to bring it alive.
Says Khanya Mashalaba, Marketing Manager for Aperol and Campari South Africa, “Aperol is a state of mind, it’s a social connector, set to bring people together around an iconic orange drink. Be it around delicious sharing foods, while listening to vibrant music, on a memorable trip or during leisure time, each of the scarves can play in that moment. We have art and Aperol Lovers in mind with this collection and hope they will be pleased with the result.”
Annél Malan, Director for Between 10and5 says, “Working with a woman-only team to create beautiful art inspired products was a joy and we’re so proud of the beautiful scarves we produced together with Aperol and these four artists.”
