Those of you making it through to the KKNK this weekend, be sure to catch the production called 2 - 21: ‘n Postmodernistiese gekafoefel deur die vraagstukke en lokvalle van jong afrikaner wees. 2 – 21 is 'n musikale garage-skouspel wat worstel tussen Hamlet en MTV...

Over at Cherryflava you can spot the latest hilarious TV Commercials produced for Chicken Licken by Net#work BBDO. Here's a teaser:

This is the latest ad done for Steers by King James Jo'burg. It's inspired by all the ex-pats who move to London and pretend that it's the best thing they ever did, when deep down inside, they miss the small things that make South Africa home,...

Take a look at this great video produced for the Afrikaans music channel MK. We don't know who produced it, but we'd love to know! Originally spotted at Vincent Maher...

The DA has entered the above-the-line campaign race with this inspiring little TV ad. The ad carries an uplifting message, focusing on the hope that, with your support, the DA can make South Africa a better place for all. The only question is who’dunnit? Here’s to hoping one of you has some answers for us. The awesome thing is that they aren’t just speaking to the older generation through conventional media. The DA is bringing the Rock the Vote initiative (made popular in the U.S) to South Africa and they’ve got some awesome local talent to back them up. The poster, designed by graphic artist Rouleaux van der Merwe, is pretty attractive too! So points to the DA for speaking to the youth in a language we understand and appreciate.

The following ad, created by King James, offers us a glimpse into a future where water is a rare and precious commodity. The ad emphasizes the plight of Recycling Oil Saves the Environment (ROSE) a non-profit organization that manages the environmentally acceptable collection, storage and...

MetroFM has always done had some amazing work produced for them. I'm already quite a fan of their billboard and print ads, and I found this TV commercial great. The press release says:
Devised by the Net#work BBDO creative team of Donovan Goliath and Reggie Makhetha and overseen by Creative Director Graeme Jenner, the ad is titled 'It's where you're from' and centers around the nostalgic journey of a township guy, beginning in his ‘hood' and progressing to his current very successful position.

simba-welcome-to-a-slice-of-simba-life-1 Gloo has sent us some of their latest work - we know it's not the flashy creative stuff that won them awards at the Loeries and other places, but they are still very well executed sites for Plascon, Simba and a very cool little flash game for Food24. Both Plascon and Simba include wonderfully rich, detailed and finely crafted flash banners, while still sticking to strict content control (these are corporate sites after all). The Simba site also has a flash animated landing page from where you can go to the relevant pages. The animation is best experienced by clicking through to the relevant sites. Vodacom has launched a new campaign (Player 23) to target the enthusiastic rugby fans for the Super 14. It features a rugby fan called Jan, the 23rd player, who's following his daily routine - but with the team following him around and trying to be exactly like him. Besides the hilarious TV ads, Vodacom also has a website where fans can download their own lockers and personalise them by adding their names, pictures and favourite teams. Fans can also download all the latest news on the Super 14 and other rugby mobile content to personalise their phones via the mobile element. You can read the entire press release on Bizcommunity. DraftFCB and ClickThinking was responsible for the concept and production of the PLayer23 Campaign. What we're very interested in is the tight integration between above the line (there is an enormous amount of print and TV exposure) and the way that has tied in with Mobile, and the desktop. This is the first mainstream application we've seen that uses Adobe Air for the desktop, and pretty tight mobile integration. The main advantages of a platform like Adobe Air is that you develop your app once, and it can be deployed to OSX or Windows, plus you have the added benefit of having free reign by using Flash, and the runtime brings the package size down quite considerably. 10and5 is hoping to get a case study out of the guys responsible for the campaign! We're hoping to get a case study out of the guys who produced the entire campaign - it would be very interesting to see what their findings were and how successful the Player 23 campaign was when it comes to and end.
The other day it hit me that I really didn't know who produced the Bakers Biscuits TV Commercial. It was pretty easy to find who did the production on it - BlackGinger.tv is responsible for the production of the video and the entire commercial was designed and directed by Shy the Sun for Ogilvy,Johannesburg. Apart from the Happiness Factory resemblance, the video might look familiar if you've seen the stuff done by the (now defunct?) Black Heart Gang, who are in actual fact also the same people as BlackGinger! Weird aint it... But it makes for some pretty amazing work! Full credits are after the click through. Also, if you are keen to check out some "Behind the Scenes" footage, check out Darrin Hofmeyr's blog.

UPDATE: this has been solved. Click through to view who did the campaign. We couldn't find out who produced this video for Sports Illustrated Afrikaans. It's our Who Dunnit of the week. We had to do some sleuthing around to find it at all online at...

Cow Africa did a 10 second television commercial for Gridstar, Vodacom's new online talent show where people can film themselves putting their talents to good use and upload it via their cellphones. The ad is already being showed on national TV, but now you can get...

Matthew Buckland pointed us to the new Nando's TV commercial featuring Evita Bezuidenhout. We're not entirely sure who produced the TV, but we have a fairly good idea that Jupiter Drawing Room and Black River FC is behind it. If you know, let us know...
