In celebration of Africa Day, we’ve selected some highlights of exceptional creativity from the rest of the continent.
Person: Wycliffe Mundopa
Zimbabwean artist Wycliffe Mundopa’s paintings feature chaotic tableaus that depict the plight of women and children in Harare. With bold, brash colours and loose brushstrokes, he interwoven Shona urban mythology and personal iconography to recount these tales of suffering.
Openings this week include a Gabrielle Raaff solo, a multi-media forest installation by Stephen Hobbs and a series of collaborations at IMBADU Collective.
It’s the first week of the month, which is the busiest week on CT’s creative calendar. Here’s a list of must-see openings and events, so you don’t miss out.
