SA Painter Elmarie Lategan’s emotional consciousness

Elmaire Lateman is a South African painter. She was born in Durban in 1983 and graduated with an honours degree in fine Arts from the University of Stellenbosch in 2005. She is currently completing her Masters via Unisa. Elmarie's latest body of work represents a shift from previously explored figurative physical surroundings to the depiction of emotional consciousness. These oil paintings reflect an emotional state of being and portray aspects of escapism, especially amongst youth within a contemporary context.
