Sindiso Nyoni also known as R!OT is a Zimbabwean born artist based in South Africa and is well-known for his politically-inspired illustrations.
Sindiso Nyoni aka R!OT was artist number 3 for the Feiyue SHAPES window display campaign. This is a video of him live drawing at the Mooks store in Rosebank, Joburg on last Friday.
The Feiyue SHAPES campaign is in it’s 3rd week and this week’s artist is Sindiso Nyoni aka R!OT. He follows Gerhard van Wyk who created the first window display of the campaign and Ben Rausch who created last week’s window installation. We did a Q&A to get to know Sindiso Nyoni a little better:
From the 13th of July this year until the 6th of August, Salon91 gallery in Cape Town will be transformed into a magical ‘Winter Wonderland’. The exhibition is a group show including work by country’s finest young illustrators, as well as a handful of pieces by budding stars on the international front.
It’s not every day that you come across an artist that is not just talented but is doing something of meaning. Sindiso Nyoni has something to say and is using art and illustration to do it.
