Desmond-Are-Tokyo Desmond and the Tutus, one of SA's most loved bands, has just got back from their first tour of Japan. Thanks to Havana Club Rum, We-are-awesome was there every step of the way to document the daily activities, shows and behind the scenes. A temporary blog called Desmond-are-Tokyo was set-up so that all of us back home can see what went down. On the blog you can see photos from every gig and soon and there'll be a tour documentary put together from behind the scenes footage.
banksy-street-art-africa-hunters The guys at We-Are-Awesome got the scoop on legendary and anonymous street artist Banksy's visit to Africa. I thought I'd repost the news just in case you missed it on their site yesterday. Apparently the artworks were done earlier this year in Mali stretching from Bamako to Timbuktu. Rumours are circulating that he has also been in Cairo. There was some speculation that it was an admirer of his style that created the pieces rather than Banksy himself. But the work being uploaded onto his site has been taken as confirmation that it is really him. See here. The Peaches Geldof one is a personal favourite but news is that it has been partially painted over and tagged by more than a few local artists trying to claim it as theirs. Thanks WAA for the lead!
Fuhrer Tees 1 Fuhrer's graphic tees are designed by Sean Metelerkamp, Jason De Villiers and Shaun Gardner. You'll soon be able to find them at a store. Here's a rationale from the brand: ‘Fuhrer makes Tees, they are quality, from the fabric to the printing. Fuhrer Tee design concepts are quite abrasive yet thought provoking, the style is reminiscent of graphic novels.  Fuhrer is in no way is an advocate for nationalist socialism, as the name is used ironically to make one question the power of authority.’ More designs after the jump. via we-are-awesome blog.

8-Bit City Cape Town scene A relatively old blog came across our radar last week - 8-bit City takes a very good and hard look at the Cape Town hipster scene and does a pretty good job of giving it a thrashing. Since the site doesn't have any comments on it, we'd love to hear your comments in our comments.
