The show is the largest Kentridge exhibition held in Africa in over a decade. The exhibition at Norval Foundation is accompanied by a concurrent exhibition at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), entitled: “Why Should I Hesitate? Putting Drawings to Work”.

Two of South Africa’s leading art institutions, Zeitz MOCAA and Norval Foundation, are set to host the largest William Kentridge exhibition in Africa.
Regarded as one of the most dynamic and exciting contemporary fine artists not only at home in South Africa, but also in the rest of the world, William Kentridge is the latest to be featured in the 21 ICONS South Africa project.
The group exhibition, The Benediction of Shade, opens at David Krut Projects in Cape Town this Saturday. The show features a large selection of artists who have engaged with the figure, idea or metaphor of the forest or the tree in different ways and through various media.
