After more than a year of teasers, cryptic hints and hit singles, Tyla’s second studio album, A*POP, has officially arrived. The question is, was it worth the wait?
Released on 24 July, A*POP marks the next chapter for the Johannesburg-born star, who has spent the past two years transforming from South African breakout artist into one of the biggest names in global pop.

Fans have already had a taste of what’s to come through singles like “Chanel”, “She Did It Again” featuring Zara Larsson, “Is It” and “Is It Love”. Tyla began dropping clues months before officially revealing the project.
Eagle-eyed fans first spotted the album title hidden in the video for “Chanel”, before she eventually unveiled the full 14-song tracklist in a creative Instagram reveal, painting each title in neon.
Speaking to Rolling Stone at this year’s Grammys, Tyla said she knew the album would fall into place while she was making it.

The album arrives at a time when Tyla’s momentum shows no signs of slowing. Since releasing her self-titled debut, she’s collected another Grammy Award, continued to dominate charts and streaming platforms, and cemented herself as a fashion and pop culture force. Beyond the music
It’s been a big year for her outside the studio too. A third Met Gala appearance, this time in a peacock-toned Valentino gown. Festival slots at Afro Nation in Portugal and Beach Please! in Romania. She also became the first international artist to headline the WNBA All-Star Game halftime show, performing the day after A*POP dropped.
She also unveiled her own Bratz doll this week, a sign of just how far her cultural influence now extends beyond music.
Tyla is bringing the A*POP * World Tour home
South African fans won’t have to wait long to hear the new songs live. Tyla has announced that the A*POP World Tour will return home in January 2027 with two local shows.
She’ll perform at Green Point Track in Cape Town on 4 January 2027, before heading to the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg on 9 January 2027.
Fans can register now for presale access, which opens on 29 July at 10am SAST, while general ticket sales begin on 31 July at 10am SAST.
