The air over Braamfontein was alive with energy, sparked by creative minds and trailblazers, as Nike celebrated its annual Air Max Day. Archive played host to young visionary talent and industry pioneers on Saturday 26 March for the Iconic annual Nike Open Air Day event. The event was split into 3 categories: Conversation, Exhibition, and After Party – Nike and Archive did not disappoint.

Not only did they release a few new Nike Air Max styles for us to get hyped about, the iconic sneaker brand launched an action-packed day with creative workshops, inspirational panels, and special guest appearances by visionary artists such as Githian Coopoo, Natalie PNG, Sandile Mhlongo, Sibot, Talia Ramkilawan, Tammi Mbambo and Xopher Wallace.

Archive invited aspiring artists to share their unique vision of the future of Nike Air. The entrants were as exciting and creative as ever. Tavongaishe Chikwanda was announced as the winner of the Nike Open Air Art Prize – R100 000 for their creative career – we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
