Are you into art and video games, digital art, VR and indie gaming? Then enter now to win tickets to Playtopia Festival.

Playtopia is a festival dedicated to indie games and interactive art. Their aim is to bring creators, developers, and innovators together in an immersive event that builds community and inspires newcomers.

The video game festival is back this year from 7 to 9 December at the Homecoming Centre, in Cape Town. Playtopia was first held in 2018 with a successful follow-up event in 2019. However, the Covid pandemic broke their stride in 2020 and it is only now in 2023 that they’re making a comeback.

This year you can expect a two-day line-up filled with an abundance of video games, VR, music, culinary delights, and immersive art experiences. The focus will be on celebrating African gaming and tech artistry and the festival will offer a curated exhibition of local artworks and games, alongside contributions from international counterparts. The event will feature exhibitions by prominent South African interactive artists, alternative, artistic and party games. There will also be a dedicated Super Friendship Arcade room to showcase games played with custom controllers, VR rooms, and more.

Playtopia will close the festival on Saturday evening with an official after party at Tommy’s Chop Shop, hosted by Diskotekah.
