G Star X Walter Van Beirendonck
G-STAR and Walter Van Beirendonck Launch Capsule Collection

YoungstaCPT Brings a Local Edge to G-STAR’s ‘Denim with Balls’

Walter Van Beirendonck’s avant-garde collaboration with G-STAR has landed in South Africa, and this time, it comes with a local twist.

In a move that merges high-fashion experimentation with street culture, G-STAR South Africa has tapped Cape Town rapper YoungstaCPT to front the campaign, bringing his raw energy and fearless individuality to the global Denim with Balls collection.

Unveiled at Paris Fashion Week, the capsule challenges the conventions of denim, swapping traditional stitching for experimental methods like gluing and taping. The 19-piece collection features oversized silhouettes, embossed dots, and bold slogans like Future Proof and Stitch Less, reflecting Van Beirendonck’s signature playfulness and G-STAR’s innovation-driven craftsmanship.

“Why are clothes still being stitched when we have the potential to explore so many other techniques?” asks Van Beirendonck. “This project is about innovation, research, and pushing the conventions of fashion.”

A Collaboration That Breaks the Rules

Known for pushing boundaries in music and fashion, YoungstaCPT’s presence in the campaign brings the collection’s rebellious spirit to life. His influence on SA youth culture and streetwear makes him the perfect fit for a line that’s all about breaking norms.

“YoungstaCPT represents everything this collection stands for — bold, disruptive, and unapologetically original,” says G-STAR South Africa.

The Campaign

Shot by Paul Kooiker, the global campaign features Van Beirendonck himself in surreal, unfiltered visuals, all captured on an iPhone.

Locally, Shezan Waggie brings the collection to life through the lens of Cape Town’s streets, where YoungstaCPT fuses hip-hop and heritage with high-fashion experimentation.

💥 The G-STAR x Walter Van Beirendonck capsule is available exclusively at G-STAR.COM, with prices ranging from R2999 to R14999.
