The South African adaptation of The Office will return for a second season following its debut on kykNET in January 2026.
The news was announced by Nomsa Philiso, Chief Content Officer: Africa at MultiChoice Group, during the opening session of FAME Week Africa 2026 in Cape Town.
Set in the offices of Deluxe Processed Meats, Die Kantoor brings the familiar workplace comedy format to a distinctly South African setting. Its first season followed office manager Flip and his colleagues through the awkward interactions, office politics and everyday chaos of working life.
The series is led by creator, head writer and director Bennie Fourie and produced by Rapid Blue, part of BBC Studios. Albert Pretorius plays Flip, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Schalk Bezuidenhout, Lida Botha, Carl Beukes, Ilse Oppelt, Daniah de Villiers, Mehboob Bawa, Sipumziwe Lucwaba and newcomer Gert du Plessis.
The first season also received recognition at the 2026 kykNET Silwerskerm Film & TV Awards, earning five nominations and two wins. Pretorius won Best Lead Performer in a Comedy, while Bezuidenhout took home Best Supporting Performer in a Comedy.
For MultiChoice, the renewal is an opportunity to build on the response to a local adaptation of an established international format.
“We are delighted to confirm that Die Kantoor will return for a second season,” says Philiso.
“The show is a fantastic example of creativity and talent within the South Africa’s television industry. As we continue creating opportunities for local storytellers and producers, we are thrilled to see this much-loved series return and build on the success of its first season.” – Nomsa Philiso
Fourie says the response to the first season has been encouraging.
“We were overwhelmed by the response to the first season and by the fact that audiences from all walks of life embraced this uniquely South African take on The Office. We can’t wait to bring more awkward moments and even more chaos to Season 2.”
Production details and broadcast dates for the second season have yet to be announced.
