This year’s Comic Con Cape Town is pulling out all the stops. Not only will fans get to spend Star Wars Day with Ian McDiarmid, the actor behind Emperor Palpatine, but the Con is also welcoming some of the biggest names in anime, gaming, and pop culture from 1–4 May 2025.
McDiarmid, best known for playing the infamous Sith Lord in the Star Wars franchise, will be appearing on 3 and 4 May. His visit coincides with international Star Wars Day on 4 May and fans can expect themed activities, cosplay competitions, merch, and the rare chance to meet the iconic villain behind the Dark Side.
But that’s not all. International voice actor Zach Aguilar will be joining the Con from 1 to 3 May. Known for voicing Tanjiro in Demon Slayer, Aether in Genshin Impact, and Byleth in Fire Emblem, Zach’s career has skyrocketed since he started at just 14. His credits include One Punch Man, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and more. He’ll be available for meet and greets and taking part in Q&A sessions, giving fans a chance to hear what it’s like to voice some of anime and gaming’s most loved characters.
Also heading to Cape Town are YouTube stars Akidearest and The Anime Man – two of the biggest content creators in the global anime scene. With millions of followers between them, their energy, humour, and in-depth takes on otaku culture have earned them dedicated fan bases around the world. They’ll be bringing that same passion to the stage at Comic Con, with panels, fan interactions, and plenty of content for anime lovers.
Comic Con Cape Town 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet. The four-day event will also feature actors Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica, Fire Country), top-tier comic artists like Adam Kubert and Laura Braga, over 120 creators in Artist Alley, and cosplay stars Yuji Koi and Mayo Cosplay.
