MUST-SEE ART EXHIBITIONS IN CPT

Genre Pictures by Michael MacGarry at Everard CPT
Everard Cape Town announces their upcoming show, Genre Pictures, Michael MacGarry’s 15th solo exhibition. The show opens next week on Wednesday, 3 August 2022 at 10h00 – ending on 24 August 2022. Alongside this is Everard Read’s iconic CUBICLE Series, which takes place from 8 – 20 August 2022.

New solo exhibitions at Southern Guild
Stanislaw Trzebinski’s solo exhibition Solastagia is set to open on Thursday, 8 September – Thursday, 10 November 2022. Unseen Dimensions of the Known by Patrick Bongoy, is the artist’s first solo with the gallery. The show opens on Thursday, 4 August 2022, lasting until Friday, 30 September 2022.

The weight of a stone (Group show) at Blank Projects
Opening tomorrow, Thursday 28 July 2022 at 18h00, is a Group show curated by Thobile Ndenze and Lemeeze Davids. The exhibiting artists are Belinda Blignaut, Rowan Blem, Nolan Oswald Dennis, Zayaan Khan, Donna Kukama, Jean-Marie Malan, Setlamorago Mashilo, Tendai Mupita, Pieter Paul Pothoven, and Inga Somdyala. With a focus on materiality, the show initiates an exploration around different states of earth – the stoicism of cement, the richness of clay, the sturdiness of metal, the infinite darkness of the mine, the pigmentation of soil, the fragility of glass.

Double Exxposure by Fathuwani Mukheli at Kindred Gallery
On Saturday, 30 July 2022, Kindred Gallery opens a not-to-miss solo exhibition curated by Samantha Whittaker, and creative duo Jana Hamman and Koos Groenewald (Jana and Koos). Kindred’s second exhibition, Double Exxposure, is a debut showcase of works by artist-photographer Fhatuwani Mukheli.

The Garden of Love by Gitte Moller at Kitsune
The Garden of Love is a small exhibition that showcases original mixed-media works all displayed in found mirror frames by Cape-Town based artist Gitte Maria Möller. The show is up at Kitsune, and lasts until the end of August 2022.

Finding Black by Serge Alain Nitegeka at Stevenson Cape Town
Stevenson invites the public for an after hours hangout! Finding Black, a solo exhibition by Serge Alain Nitegeka, opened on Saturday, 2 July 2022 and runs until 13 August 2022.

Life has become a foreign language by Cassi Namoda  at Goodman Gallery
Cassi Namoda debuts her first exhibition at Goodman Gallery Cape Town, presenting a new body of work that consists of paintings produced by the artist during a residency in the city earlier this year. The exhibition follows Namoda’s second solo exhibition on the African continent and her debut exhibition at Goodman Gallery Johannesburg in 2020.
