Applications are closing soon for the V&A Waterfront’s 2025 Artist Alliance Incubation Programme. If you’re a young creative in Cape Town, this is your chance to turn your talent into a career.
The two-month programme kicks off in October and gives emerging artists hands-on mentorship, practical skills, and support to build sustainable creative businesses. Six disciplines are in focus: illustration, graphic design, copywriting, music production, videography/photography and animation.
Over six weeks, participants will be mentored by some of South Africa’s leading creative voices, including:
- Chad Hanning (Bushy Wopp), muralist and illustrator
- Lindsey Appolis, photographer and creative producer
- Carol Joy Williams, executive podcast producer and composer
- Alison Harris, creative director and co-founder of Imagnary House
- Holly Bell Beaton-Reeves, writer and stylist
- Garth Wareley, multidisciplinary artist

From publishing to photography, street art to sound, these mentors bring invaluable industry insight and hands-on guidance.
The programme is open to creatives between 18 and 30, living in Cape Town, who want to grow their practice into something bigger. It’s a rare chance to sharpen your craft and learn how to make it work as a business.
Applicants need to share a portfolio of five works, a motivation letter, a short bio, and a summary of their creative journey so far.
Applications are almost closed and they’re especially calling on animators. The programme wants to see more young talent step forward in this category.
Applications close on Sunday, 7 September. Apply now.
