Is Kanye West Really Coming to South Africa?

Kanye West, nowadays known only as Ye, announced on his official Twitter/X profile that he will perform at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on 13 December 2025.

The post included the date and venue but no ticket link.

Monyake Group, the promoter behind the show, later confirmed the concert on their website and social media. They said their production team has already done a “site inspection” of Ellis Park and that tickets will go on sale through TicketPro from 23 September.

The show is being promoted as Ye’s only African appearance for 2025.

But while the buzz is massive, the details don’t quite line up yet. TicketPro has not confirmed the event, and it doesn’t appear on their site. Some of the digital touchpoints, including pre-registration links shared by the promoter, are broken or not working.

Monyake Group itself has a limited online footprint, with a basic website and an Instagram account with only a few posts and followers.

Reports of past non-payment issues linked to them have resurfaced according to reports by The Citizen.

If the show does go ahead, it will be Ye’s first-ever live performance in South Africa. For local fans, the prospect is huge. Ye remains one of the most influential and controversial figures in global pop culture, and bringing him to Johannesburg would be a major moment for SA’s music scene.

For now, though, fans should stay cautious. Until TicketPro or Ellis Park themselves confirm the concert, the December date remains up in the air.
