A creative collaboration honouring South African womanhood, memory, and the moments that shape us.
AYANA proudly introduces Sunday Best, a storytelling collaboration led by Creative Director Bee Diamondhead and photographed by Niquita Bento. The project is part of AYANA’s ongoing mission to create space for South African creatives, giving them the freedom to tell their stories with honesty, intention, and cultural depth.
Sunday Best is Bee Diamondhead’s interpretation of that invitation: a cinematic, nostalgic reflection on South African womanhood, family, and the memories that anchor us.

An Unfiltered South African Story
Sunday Best unfolds as a visual memory: tender, familiar, and deeply rooted in South African life. Bee returns to the memories of her childhood, siblings dressing up on Sunday mornings, mothers fixing collars before stepping out, cousins arriving in matching outfits, laughter spilling into the street, music drifting across the neighbourhood, and the gentle choreography of family gatherings.
Captured through Bento’s warm, textured lens, each scene feels like a moment we’ve all lived or longed to return to.

A Tribute to Women, Told By Women
“It’s about women who carry the weight of beauty and resilience in the same breath,” says Diamondhead.
“About how style, in our culture, has always been a form of love — for ourselves, for our families, for where we come from.” – Bee Diamondhead
Sunday Best places South African women at the centre, not as styled subjects, but as storytellers. Their gestures, presence, and lived experiences form the emotional backbone of the project.

A Platform for Creative Expression
AYANA’s vision is to champion South African creativity, to serve as a platform where artists, storytellers, and visionaries can shape narratives that reflect our world.
In Sunday Best:
- Bee’s direction is intimate and memory-rich.
- Bento’s photography blends cinematic warmth with cultural authenticity.
- The styling pulls from shared South African memories — Sunday dressing, festive gatherings, family pride — reimagined through a modern lens.
The project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and creative freedom.

A Return to Ourselves
Sunday Best is an homage to the memories that raised us, to the beauty in small moments, the power of familiarity, the stories woven into our everyday lives.
AYANA believes storytelling doesn’t only live in what we wear; it lives in the quiet grace we carry, the memories stitched into us, and the way we honour where we come from.
Through this collaboration, AYANA invites South Africans to reconnect with the beauty, depth, and collective memory that make us who we are.
