How do you make functional workwear feel personal, feminine and relevant? Nobuntu shows us how.
For young creative, student and model Nobuntu, personal style is about finding the balance between simplicity and edge. She gravitates towards pieces that feel comfortable and considered, often mixing different fits, textures and shapes to create a look that feels like her.
Nobuntu sees the workwear aesthetic as a starting point for personal style, mixing pieces from across the men’s and women’s ranges to create looks that feel like her.

Her style is also less concerned with the categories clothing is placed into. An oversized silhouette from the men’s range can sit alongside something more fitted from the women’s collection, creating contrast and balance.
After shooting our Levi’s workwear video with Nobuntu, we caught up with her on set to talk about her approach to workwear, styling beyond traditional categories, and what makes a piece worth keeping beyond one season.

What draws you to workwear, and how do you make functional pieces feel personal to your style?
I’m drawn to workwear because of its functionality and timeless design. Levi’s offers versatile basics that I can mix with clothing of different textures, fabrics, and silhouettes, which allows me to create looks that feel both simple and elevated. I love a style that is minimal yet has an edge, and I’m especially drawn to pieces that accentuate my body in a way that feels professional and polished.
For me, workwear isn’t just practical, it’s a foundation I can build on to express individuality with confidence and grace.

You mix pieces from Levi’s men’s and women’s ranges. What do you enjoy about styling beyond those categories?
Clothing is fluid to me and not confined by labels. Levi’s men’s range has silhouettes that feel oversized and comfortable, which I love pairing with more fitted pieces from the women’s range to create balance.
Styling beyond categories gives me freedom, it allows me to build looks that feel true to my mood and vision.
For me, it’s less about gender and more about how a piece makes me feel and how it contributes to the story I want to tell through my style.

What makes a piece worth adding to your wardrobe and keeping beyond one season?
When I choose a piece, I think about how it will work with what I already own and how I can style it in different ways. The texture, fit, and silhouette are always important because that’s where the personality of the piece comes through.
Since I prefer simple outfits, the details need to stand out and carry the look.
I choose pieces that feel lasting, ones I know I’ll live with and grow into, not just wear for a season.
