If you’ve been thinking about taking your curatorial work to the next level, this might be for you.
Applications are now open for the 2025 RMB Latitudes CuratorLab — a mentorship programme for emerging curators based across Africa. The programme is now in its fourth year and supports early-career curators with mentorship, hands-on experience and access to a wider professional network.
The big news this year? Latitudes has partnered with Art School Africa, a nonprofit focused on rethinking arts education across the continent. Together, they’ve created a more intentional, accessible and community-focused approach to curatorial development.

The selected curators will take part in a structured online residency from 6 August to 15 October, with the programme ending in a curated online exhibition launching in November. Along the way, participants will be paired with industry mentors, attend weekly sessions, and work on a fully conceptualised exhibition with artists from their own communities.
You’ll also get:
- A curator profile on Latitudes Online
- Professional development training (from writing to pricing to marketing)
- Access to peer feedback sessions
- Admin and sales support
- Exposure to Latitudes’ 22,000+ subscriber network
The programme is open to aspiring curators from anywhere on the continent, with a focus on South Africa. You don’t need formal training to apply, but some curatorial experience is recommended.
Deadline: 16 July 2025
