Tyla Wins Her Second VMA, and She’s Just Getting Started

South African star Tyla just clinched her second MTV VMA, winning Best Afrobeats for her breakout track “Push 2 Start”. This time around, she competed against heavy hitters like Burna Boy, Asake, Travis Scott, and Wizkid, no small feat.

This win follows her 2024 VMA victory for Water”, making it a back-to-back moment and proof she’s more than a one-hit wonder.

“It’s a blessing to be here and to be winning another award,” Tyla told reporters, giving props to all the nominees and celebrating African music.

She teased that her new album is “coming in hot,” with a song called “Chanel” dropping soon.

On the fashion front, Tyla turned heads in a ’90s Chanel top reimagined as a micro mini-dress, styled with gold chains and edgy jewelry as only she can pull off.

Her song, “Push 2 Start” was already making waves before the award, as the music video sparked a full-on dance craze. The video’s choreography went viral, giving the track even more clout on social media.

We’re keeping our eyes on our girl Tyla to see what she brings next and we’re celebrating her wins with her along the way.
