SAOTA and ARRCC, both design firms based in Cape Town, are recognised for their considered approach to design, creating spaces that are contemporary yet deeply connected to their surroundings. With a strong design philosophy, the two design houses have collaborated in bringing together luxury Moroccan villas. Drawing inspiration from traditional Moorish architecture, placing focus on authentic handcrafted details, a dusky palette is accented by lime-washed oak, stone and patinated bronze.
Aman Residences, Amanjena in Morrocco
Set within olive groves and palm trees, just beyond Morrocco’s fabled Red City and silhouetted by the High Atlas Mountains, Aman introduces a new collection of private villas. Designed by SAOTA with interiors by ARRCC, Aman Residences, Amanjena, integrate Moroccan craftsmanship with Aman’s refined design philosophy.
An extension of Amanjena designed by Ed Tuttle in 2000, the villas embody their name—Amanjena, meaning “peaceful paradise.” The architecture and interiors embrace this sense of serenity, remaining deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
The collection consists of three distinct villa designs, arranged around garden courtyards. Earth-toned walls and reflective water elements create a calm, immersive environment. Terraces, shaded colonnades, and open-air living spaces provide a natural flow between indoors and out, reinforcing Aman’s relationship with nature and light.
SAOTA’s Design
SAOTA’s design respects tradition while maintaining Aman’s signature simplicity. “The architecture is about purity of space and an intuitive flow,” says Roxanne Kaye, SAOTA principal leading the project. “From arrival to the layered internal spaces, courtyards, and water elements, the experience unfolds with intention, evoking a sense of tranquility.”

ARRCC’s Interior Design
ARRCC’s interiors are an extension of this approach, with natural materials and handcrafted finishes balancing tradition with a modern sensibility. “The interiors in addition with each bespoke furniture piece reflect Amanjena’s design language—timeless, authentic, and rooted in place,” says Mark Rielly of ARRCC.

Drawing from Morocco’s architectural heritage, the villas use a restrained palette of textured plaster, stone, and intricate detailing, echoing the resort’s quiet elegance. Designed for privacy while embracing the landscape, they offer uninterrupted views of the Atlas Mountains or the adjacent Amelkis Golf Course.
