Rain, Bass, and Mosh Pits: Travis Scott’s Return to SA

Travis Scott brought his Circus Maximus Tour to FNB Stadium, uniting millennials and Gen Z in a storm of sound, rain, and mosh pits.

They say you can’t describe what it’s like to be part of something bigger than yourself, but fans at FNB Stadium last week came close. On 11 October 2025, Travis Scott returned to Johannesburg for the first time since 2017 with his Circus Maximus Tour. From what people shared online, he turned the stadium into a storm of energy.

A Late Start

It was cold, rainy and delayed. Fans stood soaked and restless. Then the lights cut, the bass dropped, and the wait didn’t matter anymore. One fan posted, “The rain ain’t gonna stop nothing tonight.”

When Travis appeared, the crowd exploded.

Gen X meets Milenial

Older fans came for “Sicko Mode” and “Goosebumps”. The younger crowd screamed for “Fe!n” and “Meltdown”. The mix of generations created something special. Every time “Fe!n” played, the mosh pits opened again. People were jumping, screaming, and sometimes even falling over, only to be helped back up. It was chaos that somehow felt like unity.

Anele Mdoda shared that she came as a spectator and left as a fan. She spoke about watching her godson, 16 years old, having the time of his life. That’s the magic of moments like these, when an artist connects everyone, from teenagers to thirty-somethings, in one shared wave of sound.

The Pits

The pits were wild. People described them as both scary and beautiful. “Travis Scott brought the fire. I loved the energy,” one fan said online. When he shouted “Jump!”, the crowd didn’t hesitate. Thousands moved as one.

Even Uncle Waffles felt the energy. She posted on her Instagram Stories that she was inspired by how the crowd responded to Travis and asked how she could get her fans to do the same for her sets. Many people replied that her track  “Zenzele” already has that power.

The Big Picture

If you weren’t there, picture this: rain falling through stage lights, the bass shaking your chest, strangers screaming the same lyrics beside you, and Travis standing above it all saying, “Tonight showed me something different.”

As Travis Scott soaked up Joburg’s unique energy, becoming one with Africa, the city became one with him. If you missed this one, the FOMO is real, your friends probably haven’t stopped talking about it.
