Vans took over Cape Town’s Texas venue, blending skateboarding, music, art, and community in an unforgettable experience.
This past weekend, Vans showed out with another iconic community moment at Texas with an event that blended skateboarding, music, art, and community into one unforgettable experience. It was a come-as-you-are celebration of culture in its purest form.

This event marked the evolution of Vans’ ongoing partnership with Blondie, Cape Town’s cult-favourite hangout spot. Vans brought its signature edge to the experience and collaborated with Blondie on the concept for a larger-than-life matchbox skate feature that became the centrepiece of the park.
Brand athletes were out in full force, with Yann Horowitz hosting the experience. In addition, the lineup spotlighted women from both the skate and music scenes, including skateboarder Boipelo Awuah, and DJs Mila Rose and Fluffy, who turned the energy up with sets that kept the crowd moving.

The Playground
Custom-built skate obstacles set the stage for some of the most creative skating the venue’s seen. It was skateboarding dialed all the way up.
The Man of the Match challenge saw skaters take to rails painted and shaped like real-life matchsticks. The Paloma Coma had skaters wall-riding with a full Paloma cocktail in hand. The challenge was to keep as much drink in the glass as possible while sticking your trick. The fullest glass won!

And finally, to close out the session, the HOROBLITZ. This beast demanded everything from the riders. The riders were pushed to get out of their comfort zone. Best trick on the matchbox closed off the skating with the DJs taking us into the night.

Community in Full Motion
The experience was a living statement of what’s possible when skateboarding, music, and art collide. The event saw the Blondie core crew, curious newcomers, and longtime Vans family. Not a single person stood still when the wheels hit the ground and the music kicked off.
This marks yet another standout Vans experience and it’s just one of many more to come. This moment proves what Vans has always known: that culture lives outside the lines.
