B-Boy Toufeeq and B-Girl Courtnaé are South Africa’s Red Bull BC One National Champions, and they’re heading to Toronto to compete for the world title.
South Africa’s breaking season has its winners. Toufeeq and Courtnaé took the Red Bull BC One South Africa National Final at Thibault Square in Cape Town on Saturday 5 September, securing the country’s two seats at the World Final in Toronto this November.
What Went Down
The National Final pulled together the best of South Africa’s 2026 qualifying circuit: B-Boy Bashi and B-Girl Baylie out of Johannesburg, Ranks representing East London, and Shady and Keshia flying the flag for Cape Town. All of them battled for two spots on the world stage, and it came down to Toufeeq and Courtnaé taking the titles.
If you’re not familiar with the format, Red Bull BC One is widely considered the most prestigious one-on-one breaking competition on the planet. There’s no fixed playlist and no choreographed routines, just two dancers in a circle, going off the music in real time, judged on technique, originality, creativity, musicality and performance.
Thibault Square brought the scale to match the stakes. DJ Ready D held down the decks, Priddy Ugly and Younsta CPT performed between rounds, and the Red Bull BC One All Stars ran an exhibition battle that gave the crowd an extra look at the depth of South African breaking talent. By the time the final battles came around, the energy in the square had been building all day.
The Champions
For Toufeeq, this is his fifth national title and fourth back-to-back.
“I feel so great, 5-time champion, 4 times back-to-back. I’m just trying to push myself to the highest level that I can go, and also just trying to open that door for the next South Africans to just go through,” he said.
Courtnaé takes her fourth title, and she made clear this one carried extra weight.
“It feels amazing. This was very personal for me, I’ve been through a lot in life and I had to do it. I had to do it, for myself more than anything else.”
What’s Next
Both champions now turn their focus to the Red Bull BC One World Final in Toronto, Canada, on Sunday 29 November 2026, where they’ll go up against the best breakers in the world for the global title.
